Effective treatment for back pain at home, reducing discomfort and restoring mobility.
Back pain is the single largest cause of disability in the UK, affecting one in three adults. NICE guidelines recommend physiotherapy as a first-line treatment, combining manual therapy, exercise, and lifestyle modification for both acute and chronic back pain.
Who This Service Is Suitable For
Adults experiencing acute or chronic back pain, including mechanical back pain, sciatica, postural back pain, and pain related to disc, joint, or muscular causes — particularly those whose pain is aggravated by daily activities.
Conditions and Problems It May Help With
What We Work Towards
Treatment may help you work towards the goals below. Your rehabilitation may focus on some or all of these. Goals depend on your assessment, condition and circumstances, and outcomes vary between individuals — they cannot be guaranteed.
- Improving movement and confidence
- Understanding aggravating factors
- Returning gradually to normal activity
- Developing strength and self-management skills
Your First Visit, Step by Step

- What we ask about
- Your medical history, current symptoms, medications, any recent scans or hospital stays, and what you would like to achieve.
- Assessments we may complete

- Does treatment start straight away?
- Yes — most people begin hands-on treatment and their first exercises during this visit, where appropriate.
- What you receive afterwards
- A written exercise programme, clear advice on what to do between sessions, and a summary of your agreed goals and plan.
- Can a family member or carer attend?

Practical Questions, Answered
A few things people often want to know before getting in touch.
Can a relative arrange the appointment?
Yes. Family members often arrange the initial call on behalf of a parent, partner or relative. We will speak with the person receiving treatment (or their representative) to confirm what they would like.
Can a carer or family member be present?
Always. A carer or relative is welcome to attend every session, observe, and learn how to support exercises safely between visits.
What if I have limited mobility?
That is exactly who we visit. Treatment takes place in your own home, so there is no travel, no clinic transfer, and exercises are built around the furniture, stairs and spaces you use every day.
Do I need to provide any equipment?
No. Your physiotherapist brings all assessment and treatment equipment to every visit. We simply need a clear, well-lit space to work in.
Can you communicate with my consultant, GP or other clinicians?
Yes, with your consent. We can liaise with your GP, consultant or hospital team and share relevant updates so your rehabilitation fits within your wider care.
How quickly can treatment start?
Same-day or next-day appointments are often available, subject to capacity. After your free phone consultation we will agree a convenient time for your first home visit.
What does the first appointment cost?
Your first visit is £110 and lasts 60 minutes, including the assessment and first treatment. Follow-ups are £99 for 60 minutes, and a package of five visits is £450. Online video consultations are £45 for 30 minutes. Travel is included, and you pay after your appointment by card, bank transfer or cash.
Home Back Pain Physiotherapy: Treatment & Rehabilitation
Understanding Back Pain
Back pain is the single largest cause of disability in the United Kingdom, affecting an estimated one in three adults at any given time. While most episodes of back pain resolve within a few weeks, chronic back pain — lasting more than twelve weeks — can have a devastating impact on daily life, work, sleep, and mental health.
Physiotherapy is consistently recommended as a first-line treatment for back pain by national guidelines, including those from NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).
Home Assessment for Back Pain
One of the unique advantages of home physiotherapy for back pain is that your physiotherapist can assess the environment where your pain is worst. They can evaluate your posture at your desk, the support of your mattress, how you lift and carry, and how your daily activities may be contributing to your symptoms.
This level of insight is simply not possible in a clinic setting, and it allows for more targeted, effective treatment.
Hands-On Treatment and Exercise
Our physiotherapists use a combination of manual therapy — including mobilisation, soft tissue techniques, and exercise — to treat back pain. Manual therapy provides immediate relief from stiffness and pain, while progressive exercise builds the strength, flexibility, and endurance needed for long-term recovery.
Your exercise programme will be tailored to your condition and your goals, whether that is returning to work, playing with grandchildren, or simply being able to walk without pain.
Long-Term Pain Management
For patients with chronic back pain, physiotherapy focuses on active self-management — giving you the knowledge, exercises, and strategies to manage your condition independently. This includes understanding your pain, pacing your activities, maintaining a regular exercise routine, and knowing when to seek further help.
Our aim is not just to treat your current episode but to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.

What Our Patients Say
"I would definitely recommend Rob. I was a bit uncertain at first as to what to expect and how effective physio would be for me. Rob is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He puts you at your ease and explains everything as he goes along. After months if not years of not being able to turn my neck properly, I saw an improvement in two sessions and my neck and back are improving week by week."
Janet
"I had a deep tissue massage focusing on my back and legs, and it was absolutely amazing! The pressure was perfect, and I left feeling so much lighter and completely relaxed. I'm really pleased with the whole experience and will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend!"
Jasmine Seddon
"I'd been having trouble with my back for over a year and not had much luck with seeing the GP so did some research and came across Rob's services. After just 4 sessions, I've been given some strength-building and stretching exercises which have reduced my pain massively. Rob is friendly and knowledgeable and his facilities are professional and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him!"
