Your Questions Answered
Our FAQs are designed to address your most common questions about mobile physiotherapy with clarity and care. From booking your first at-home session to understanding treatment options and recovery timelines, we cover everything to make your journey to better mobility seamless and stress-free. What is mobile physiotherapy?
Mobile physiotherapy brings expert care directly to your home, making it convenient for those with mobility challenges, post-surgery recovery, or busy schedules. Our qualified physiotherapists assess your condition, provide hands-on treatment, teach tailored exercises, and offer advice in your familiar environment to support faster, more practical recovery.
Do I need a GP referral to book a session?
No, you can self-refer and book directly with us. As independent healthcare professionals, we’re trained to assess and diagnose most musculoskeletal and movement issues. However, if your GP has referred you, feel free to bring any relevant notes or scans for a more informed session.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking is simple—call us at 0161 399 2438, or email hello@recoveryathomephysio.co.uk. We’ll discuss your needs over the phone, then schedule a convenient time. Initial assessments are available within 2 working days. We do try to be flexible if emergency appointments are required for the same day, call us to discuss if required.
What areas do you cover?
We serve Greater Manchester, East Cheshire, and surrounding regions. If you’re unsure about your location, contact us—we’ll confirm if we can help.
How much does a session cost?
Our fees are competitive and transparent: Initial assessments (60 minutes) are £105, with follow-up sessions (45 minutes) from £95. Home visits include travel within our service area. Packages for multiple sessions offer discounts— you save £25 when booking 5 sessions and £100 when booking 10 sessions.
What's your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to avoid charges. Less than 24 hours incurs a 100% fee. We’re flexible for emergencies—just let us know as soon as possible so we can accommodate others.
Are your physiotherapists qualified and insured?
Absolutely—our team is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), with full professional indemnity insurance. All undergo DBS checks for your peace of mind.
Is mobile physiotherapy covered by insurance or the NHS?
Private health insurance often covers our services (check your policy for physiotherapy benefits). We’re not NHS-contracted, but if you’re on a waiting list, we offer faster access. Self-pay options are available, and we provide receipts for insurance claims.
What happens during a physiotherapy session?
Each session starts with a chat about your symptoms, medical history, and goals, followed by a physical assessment. We’ll then provide treatment, such as manual therapy, exercises, or advice, tailored to you. You may feel some temporary soreness afterward, but we’ll guide you on managing it. Treatment begins from your first visit.
How long are appointments, and how many will I need?
Your first appointment lasts 60 minutes for a full assessment and initial treatment. Follow-ups are 45 minutes. The number of sessions varies—acute issues might need a few weekly visits, while chronic conditions could be ongoing. We’ll create a personalised plan and adjust based on your progress.
What should I wear, and what space do I need?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows access to the affected area (e.g., shorts for leg issues). We’ll bring a portable treatment table if needed, requiring just a clear 2×2 meter space in a quiet room. No special equipment is required from you unless advised.
Do you offer home visits, and is the treatment as effective as in a clinic?
Yes, all our services are mobile, delivered in your home for added comfort and relevance. Studies and our experience show home-based physio is just as effective as clinic treatment, often more so, as it incorporates your real-life environment into the plan.
